CHAPEL CLUB
O MAYBE I
OUT 22ND FEBRUARY ON EAST CITY RECORDINGS

Chapel Club: Lewis Bowman – vocals. Michael Hibbert – guitar. Liam Arklie – bass. Alex Parry – guitar. Rich Mitchell – drums

A name that may or may not appear on any number of lists at the outset of 2010, Chapel Club seem intent on ploughing their own furrow regardless of the hype - and are pleased to confirm the release of their second single, ‘O Maybe I’.

The band first pricked the capital's consciousness as the sun started to set on the summer of 2009, with a series of live shows in a hitherto underused setting in Dalston. Word of mouth excitement led to unprecedented numbers in attendance for a band few had heard and even fewer had witnessed live. The gigs proved to be a pivotal moment in the upward arc of the band's trajectory.

Chapel Club’s recorded debut came in the pop noir form of single ‘Surfacing’, which dined on past moods and moments while concocting a feast of the band's own devilish design. With healthy support from specialist radio and plaudits from press quarters, the band ended 2009 on a high - and surrounded by high expectations (not least their own).

‘O Maybe I’ careers into view riding this wave of anticipation - and does nothing to disappoint. Another track from an already impressive cache, it will turn heads from the brooding opening bassline through the impassioned vocal -  recounting a tale of love and frustration - to a finale awash with guitar beauty…

‘O Maybe I’ is released on 22nd February and available on limited 7” and CD single through East City Recordings.

  • Cooks and kitchen helpers needed

To cater for 1,000 site staff around this year's Festival, we are looking for experienced/qualified chefs and cooks, as well as kitchen helpers who need to be hard working, but not necessarily qualified.

They will either be employed from the beginning of June until mid July; or from 17th June – 2nd July. Shifts will be about 8 hours a day, with some early and some late shifts.

All chefs, cooks and helpers will be paid. They will also get a staff pass to the Festival and some time off during the Festival itself. But they will have to work during event days. This is hard work, rather then just an easy way into the Festival.

Staff will have to bring their own camping equipment, but food, showers and washing machines are provided.

If you are interested please send a CV detailing relevant experience and any food hygiene or other qualifications to worthy@glastonburyfestivals.co.uk - stipulating whether you are looking to be employed for two weeks or seven weeks.

  • Help save BBC 6 Music

It was announced this morning that the BBC is to close its superb 6 Music radio station as part of a cost-cutting shake-up. The station - and its DJs - have been huge supporters of Glastonbury, so we'd certainly like to do our bit to help them out now. We're also saddened at the closure of the BBC Asian Network, which has broadcast some great stuff from the Festival over the years.

We believe that the decision to close the stations is the wrong one. If you agree, then please email trust.enquiries@bbc.co.uk to explain why you'll miss 6 and/or Asian Network or complete the Trust's BBC Strategy Review Online Survey. The BBC Trust will have to approve the closures and may yet refuse to do so if enough people show their support. A few minutes' effort could really make a difference.

    Thank you.
